Back in 2014, we opened the doors of our hostel in Bishkek, expecting a simple flow of travelers. But we quickly realized that our guests came not just for a place to sleep. They asked questions we weren’t prepared to answer — how to experience the real Kyrgyzstan, where to find adventure, and what to explore beyond the usual tourist trails.
A challenge that changed everything
We understood that standard tours weren’t enough. Our guests wanted more than just stunning landscapes — they wanted to feel the country. That challenge pushed us to start crafting custom-made journeys: some dreamed of sleeping in a yurt, others wanted to ride horses deep into the mountains, while some simply longed to share dinner with a local family. And that’s how the idea that changed everything was born.
The beginning of a new path
We stepped beyond the hostel walls and created Tunduk Travel — a travel company rooted in family values and a deep love for our culture. Recently in 2026, the government of Kyrgyzstan launched a national tourism online platform under the same name, as our brand was not officially trademarked; we had to change our name to avoid confusion
